Next Door But One, Riding Lights Theatre Company and Theatre@41, are offering a FREE series of career development sessions for performing arts professionals in and around York. 

 

Due to be delivered between October 2026 and March 2027. 

 

Through a blend of virtual and in-person workshops, participants will be able to refresh or refine their skills in such areas as arts fundraising, script-writing, programming, auditioning, directing and much more. There will also be opportunities for peer-to-peer support and networking with all who participate.

 

However, before we create the programme - we want to hear from YOU! What would interest you? What workshops would help you develop?

 

This is the fourth time that we have run the programme, and feedback from the last cohort 2025-6 included:

 

"The structure of the workshop was excellent - exercises followed by dissection of those exercises. I found his nuanced understanding of directing and improv to be a highlight."

 

"I’ve worked in theatre for 20 years and nobody has made the inner workings of running a theatre company this clear to me before."

 

"This has made me quite emotional. I’m neurodivergent so always convinced myself that the business side of theatre just isn’t for me. This workshop has made me think the work that I want to make is actually doable and I have real ways to go away from here and start doing it."

 

"I feel like I’ve learned something completely new. And I feel all full and fizzy from that."
