RIDING LIGHTS THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS

The Giant is angry. He's been away for a long time and returns to find children- children!- playing in his beautiful garden!

They run about, laughing and playing games under the blossom on his peach trees, listening to the delightful songs of the birds.

So, he puts up a big wall and an even bigger KEEP OUT notice to put a stop to all that.
Then winter seizes the garden in its icy fingers... Will its grip ever be broken?

Through vivid, interactive story-telling, original music, puppetry and humour, Riding Lights brings you this brilliant story of transformation. No one, not even the story-tellers themselves can be left unaffected by this inspiring tale of love and generosity.

WHY SHOW THE SELFISH GIANT?

We love the heart-warming and inspiring story of The Selfish Giant. We last took it out on tour in 2019 and both the children and adults in our audiences loved it. The timeless story of a lonely character learning to share his home, his garden, and most importantly his heart with others, brings to the stage themes of forgiveness and redemption for those on the fringes, or who have forgotten the importance of love and connection with others.

Our version of Oscar Wilde's classic tale is packed with puppets, songs and interactive moments for children, where they can join the actors in our beautiful garden set that changes with the seasons. We retell the story with a lot of silliness, laughter and spirit, adding our own spin to the show whilst remaining true to Wilde’s message- that there is a place for everyone in the garden.
