The Riding Lights Summer Theatre School is arguably one of the best creative holiday weeks you could ever experience…
…and there would be plenty of us who would be glad to argue the point at some length, including many of our students who have returned (several times in some cases) for more!
For the third year running, we’ll be gathering at
HARROGATE LADIES’ COLLEGE
, a picturesque spot on the edge of one of the most distinctive towns in North Yorkshire, where all of us (gentlemen as well as ladies) will benefit from good food, comfortable accommodation, a range of sporting activities including a swimming pool, a chapel and a bar – all those ingredients which help to provide that illusory feeling of holiday relaxation within the theatrical hurly-burly!
To provide food for thought, discussion and an interactive link between the various courses, our team of professional tutors and theatre practitioners has decided on a unifying theme for our work this year: LIVING IN HOPE. This connects with the work our Roughshod company has been doing under the banner of HOPE ’08. It will also provide a focus for our daily worship and the scheduled performances by Riding Lights Theatre Company and other performers who will be flying in and out of the Summer School.
Bringing together 120 creative people for a dynamic week of theatre training and experiment has become a real highlight of the Riding Lights calendar – one which we regard as a privilege to organise. I sincerely hope that among this year’s courses you’ll find something that looks like it will serve your needs. If you have not yet dipped a toe into our theatrical whirlpool, can I urge you to do so without delay, before those who have already taken the plunge nab all the places… because, as I say, this is arguably one of the best creative holidays around!
