Riding Lights Roughshod is a professional touring theatre company created by Riding Lights in 1992 to concentrate on the grass-roots community touring which characterised the early years of Riding Lights itself. Roughshod annually reaches a live audience of around 65,000 adults and children. It has been acclaimed for creating powerful new pieces of theatre.

Friargate Theatre, Riding Lights' new home in York, was opened to the public for the first time in May 2000.

Its opening season featured a new production of Ben Jonson's The Alchemist and the classic Riding Lights revue, The Complete Works.
